Xarelto Lawsuits Exceed 400

Since April 15, 2015, nearly 100 additional lawsuits concerning the anticoagulant Xarelto have been added to the multi-district litigation (“MDL”) pending in Louisiana District Court, which combines similar cases in order to expedite legal proceedings. Plaintiffs of the 402 lawsuits in the Xarelto MDL allege that drugmakers Bayer and Janssen Pharmaceuticals misrepresented and even concealed the true dangers of their drug, marketing it as superior and safer to competitor blood-thinners, when in fact the lack of a bleeding antidote makes Xarelto far more risky. Xarelto patients experienced dangerous side effects from the drug, including internal bleeding, hospitalization, and even death.
