Takata Airbag Recalls Aren’t Over Yet

In March 2015, 100,000 more drivers were informed of the dangers their vehicles may pose when their Honda automobiles were recalled, adding to the over 5 million-vehicle Takata airbag recall crisis. Owners of affected 2008 Honda Pilots, 2004 Honda Civics, and numerous model-year Honda Accords are at risk for injury or death due to the propensity for their vehicles’ airbags to explode and send metal shrapnel into the interior of the car. While violently deploying Takata airbags have affected automakers worldwide, Honda owners have been the most impacted by the crisis, leading to management changes and expansive recalls. As part of its investigations, NHTSA recently assessed Honda with a $70 million fine for illegal reporting failures.
