Stryker Hip Replacement Lawsuits Continue After Billion-Dollar Settlement Announcement
After the historic $1.4 billion settlement was announced over Stryker metal-on-metal hip replacements, lawyers have continued to file lawsuits in the multi-district litigation. The settlement, announced November 2014, provides for at least $300,000 in compensation for plaintiffs who suffered from a failed Rejuvenate or ABG II hip replacement and underwent surgery to remove the device. These defective medical devices fail at an alarming rate, causing the release of metal particles into the bloodstream and surrounding tissue, which can lead to painful replacement surgery and other dangerous side effects.
