“Science Day” Scheduled in Xarelto MDL

U.S. District Judge Eldon Fallon, the judge who is presiding over the roughly 400 complaints making up the multi-district litigation (MDL) filed against makers of blood-thinner Xarelto, has issued an order scheduling a “Science Day” to hear from both sides of the litigation.  On June 11, 2015, Judge Fallon will listen to presentations that will likely outline the nature of blood thinners, the role these types of drugs plays as blood clot preventatives, as well as data collected surrounding bleeding risks—including reversal agents, and the controversial absence thereof in the case of anticoagulant Xarelto. Presenting material in this fashion will allow both plaintiff and defense sides an equal opportunity to educate the court about relevant scientific and medical information that it will likely impact course of the litigation.
