Recall Notice Too Late for Takata Airbag Victim
A Florida man received a recall notice from Honda Motor Co. more than 10 days after an accident that landed him in the hospital for emergency surgery to remove shrapnel from his neck after his recalled 2003 Honda Civic’s airbag exploded. The victim’s defective airbag was installed in a car that was part of an additional 100,000-vehicle recall issued by Honda in March 2015. So far, 25 million vehicles have been affected by exploding Takata airbags that emit life-threatening metal shrapnel upon eruption.
