Pinnacle Hip Implant Bellwether Trials to Continue after J&J Denied Appeal
In one of the latest developments in the DePuy Pinnacle hip implant litigation centralized in the Northern District of Texas, DePuy and Johnson & Johnson were denied their appeal to the Fifth Circuit seeking stop the next bellwether trials over the failed device. The denied appeal comes just after a jury verdict and eventual $151 million damages award was handed down to plaintiffs injured by the Pinnacle metal-on-metal hip replacement system that prematurely failed. The next round of bellwether trials in the multi-district litigation is set to begin in September 2016.
