Organizational Conference Set for Xarelto Consolidated Litigation

After a December 2014 decision to consolidate all pending litigation involving claims of Xarelto severe bleeding incidents, the newly centralized case is proceeding quickly in the new year, with an initial status conference scheduled for January 29, 2105. The conference is the first step towards setting a roadmap for the legal proceedings, which U.S. District Judge Eldon Fallon hopes will bring an “expeditious, economical, and just resolution to this litigation.” After the status conference, it is expected that Judge Fallon will seek to appoint a small group of plaintiffs’ lawyers to lead the litigation and designate bellwether cases—the first to proceed to trial to gauge the outcome of subsequent similar cases.
