New Study Highlights Xarelto’s Gastrointestinal Bleeding Risks

In a December 2016 Mayo Clinic study published in the journal Gastroenterology, researchers suggest that Xarelto carries a higher risk of gastrointestinal bleeding compared to similar anticoagulants. The study analyzed data from patients that used Xarelto, Pradaxa or Eliquis between October 2010 and February 2015. Researchers found that patients using Xarelto experienced the highest bleeding risk, an increase of 20% over that of Pradaxa, while Eliquis posed the lowest risk.
