New Florida Xarelto Case Filed over Fatal Bleeding

In April 2015, the family of a Florida Xarelto patient filed a lawsuit against the manufacturers of the anticoagulant after their loved one passed away from an uncontrolled bleeding event. This case joins numerous others claiming that Bayer and Johnson & Johnson misrepresented the safety of Xarelto, which lacks an antidote. While drugmakers promoted their “new generation” drug as superior to more traditional warfarin, the older treatment is easily reversed with Vitamin K injections if a patient’s blood becomes too thin and bleeding occurs. A multi-district litigation has been filed in Louisiana, and coordinated cases are also being pursued in Philadelphia—which may number into the thousands of victims of this dangerous drug.
