After a $2.1 billion jury verdict in the Johnson & Johnson talcum powder litigation was upheld in March 2021, the drug company appealed the ruling to avoid paying the penalty. Last month, the U.S. Supreme Court denied their petition, in favor of the 22 women who claimed they developed ovarian cancer after using Johnson & Johnson talcum powder products.

Currently, there are more than 30,000 lawsuits filed by plaintiffs around the country alleging that Johnson & Johnson failed to adequately warn consumers that their talc-containing products may increase the risk for ovarian cancer and other injuries.
