GM Ignition Switch Fatalities Number 104
General Motors has approved an additional four claims to receive payments from the $550 million Compensation Fund, bringing the total fatality count recognized by GM to 104. This number continues to climb as Kenneth Feinberg, the attorney GM hired to run the Fund, has yet to complete his review of the over 4,300 injury and death claims submitted for compensation. The faulty ignition switches, which were installed in 2.5 million GM-manufactured vehicles, were recalled in February 2014 after a decade-long cover-up of the defect.
