More Deaths, Injuries from GM Ignition Switch Crisis

The General Motors ignition switch compensation fund, designed to benefit those affected by the auto safety crisis, is continuing to approve claims, adding 3 new death claims and 9 injury claims — now totaling a monumental 45 fatalities and 67 injuries. With over 1,400 claims still under review and a January 31, 2015 deadline to submit new claims, General Motors could be facing a payout as high as $600 million to victims from its compensation fund, notwithstanding significant pending litigation, looming investigations, and record-setting fines.
