Cases Moving Forward in Truvada Lawsuit Concerning Kidney and Bone Problems
Plaintiffs’ firm Grant & Eisenhofer is liaison counsel in a coordinated proceeding filed by plaintiffs injured by harmful HIV medications manufactured by Gilead Sciences, Inc. Lawsuits allege that as early as the 1990s, Gilead knew of the harmful side effects of its tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) drugs (which include Viread®, Tenofovir®, Atripla®, Complera®, and Stribild®), but withheld the safer alternative, tenofovir alafenamide (TAF), despite the risks. These TDF drugs are linked to severe side-effects such as chronic kidney disease, bone density loss, fracturing and tooth loss. Gilead is being sued over accusations that it withheld the safer alternative to TDF to reap profits from booming sales.
