Maker of the popular gaming platform Roblox is under fire with multiple lawsuits alleging failure to protect minors from online predators and sexual abuse.

National safety groups are calling on federal regulators to step in after lawsuits claim that Roblox Corp. failed to implement safety features to protect minors who use the Roblox gaming platform. The absence of such features has allegedly led to incidents involving exploitation, explicit image sharing and even in-person sexual assault. The lack of protections and parental controls have put millions of minors at serious risk of emotional and physiological harm, lawsuits claim.

The lawsuits further allege that predators used Roblox’s communication systems to target minors, build trust, and move conversations to third-party platforms like Discord® and Snapchat®, where parental oversight is often even more limited. In the past several months, State Attorneys General and other municipalities have also filed suits against Roblox Corp., including Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Los Angeles County.
