Avelox, Levaquin Users Seek MDL Over Peripheral Neuropathy Side Effects

After at least 24 product liability lawsuits were filed in 16 different courts against makers of fluoroquinolone antibiotics (FLQs) Levaquin, Cipro, Avelox, and other similar drugs, plaintiffs are now seeking to consolidate their cases into one multi-district litigation, or “MDL,” which is a mechanism courts to centralize many similar cases to expedite future proceedings. The cases all allege that the pharmaceutical companies who manufacture the strong antibiotics failed to adequately warn patients of the severe side-effects that the FLQs can cause, including pain, burning, tingling, weakness, and peripheral neuropathy. Oral arguments on the MDL motion are expected to take place on July 30, 2015.
