Another Wright Profemur Hip Case Filed as Plaintiffs Push for MDL
A complaint was recently filed against Wright Medical Technology, Inc. and Microport Orthopedics, Inc, manufacturer of the Profemur hip replacement. The June 5, 2020 lawsuit alleges that defendants knew for years—but did not adequately warn—that the Profemur Modular Hip System implant was defectively designed.
Defects include the tendency for the device to corrode, fracture, or fail prematurely. Additional risks of other serious injuries, such as metallosis, tissue damage, pseudotumor, adverse local tissue reaction, and elevated metals released into a patient’s body.
This case joins dozens of others filed across the country alleging similar problems. In May 2020, plaintiffs’ requested that their cases be centralized before one judge in a multi-district litigation to streamline pretrial proceedings.
