Is $2.4 Billion Actos Settlement Enough?

In its latest offer to plaintiffs, Takeda Pharmaceuticals has agreed to pay $2.37 billion to settle pending lawsuits related to the cancer-causing side effect of its diabetes drug Actos.   The offer, however, comes with a stipulation: Takeda will only agree to the settlement if 95% or more of the plaintiffs agree to the deal. In early April 2015, with more than 8,000 cases pending against the pharmaceutical company, plaintiffs rejected a $2.2 billion settlement from Takeda.
