16 Million Additional Takata Airbag-Equipped Cars Recalled
Two new recalls have been issued for millions of additional vehicles equipped with explosive Takata airbags, adding to the 25 million already recalled over the massive auto safety defect. Honda Motors, the automaker most affected by the airbag problem with 10 previous recalls amounting to over 11.4 million cars, has recalled an additional 4.89 million more cars involving 14 model classes from 2002-2008. Toyota and Nissan have also recalled 11.4 million more of their own cars involving 35 different models manufactured between 2003 and 2007. Both recalls affect the automakers’ highest selling models, including the Honda Civic and CRV, and the Toyota Corolla.
